Nigeria Set To Export Yams To Europe....
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has said that arrangements had been concluded for the first container of yams to leave the shores of Nigeria for the European continent on the 29th of June this year.
He disclosed this in Abuja during a chat with journalists on the achievements of his Ministry since the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government took over power two years ago.
Ogbeh stated that, within the next two years, Nigeria’s agricultural sector will regain its lost glory at the world stage as a major food producer and exporter.
He noted that apart from yam that will soon be added to the list of farm produce Nigeria exports to the rest of the world, the country was doing well in the exportation of vegetables, beans and cowpeas to India, as well as cashew to Vietnam.
The Minister further said that without the support of Nigerians who heeded the call of President Buhari to take agriculture seriously and shift focus away from oil, the giant strides the country was making in the exportation of farm produce would have been impossible.

Osinbajo Signs Two Bills Into Law. To Ease Access To More Affordable Credit For Nigerians.
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has signed into law two bills from the National Assembly that will ultimately facilitate access to more affordable credit for Nigerians.
The bills which have now become 'Acts' are the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act, 2017 (otherwise known as Collateral Registry Act) and the Credit Reporting Act, 2017.
'The Collateral Registry Act' ensures that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria can register their movable assets such as motor vehicles, equipment and accounts receivable in the National Collateral Registry, and use same as collateral for accessing loans. This in turn will increase their chances at accessing financing and tackle one of the major obstacles faced by MSMEs.
On the other hand, 'The Credit Reporting Act' provides for credit information sharing between Credit Bureaus and lenders (such as banks), as well as other institutions that provide services on credit such as telecommunication companies and retailers. (A Credit Bureau is defined as a company that collects information relating to the credit ratings of individuals and makes it available to financial institutions, who need such information to determine an individual's credit-worthiness and whether or not to grant loan applications to such individuals.)
Access to credit is critical to economic growth and is considered to be the motor for driving private sector development. However, in Nigeria more than 70% of private enterprises, typically MSMEs, have limited or no access to credit. Credit applications get rejected due to insufficient credit history and information for the lender to use to make a reasonable judgement, as well as unacceptable collateral. The two new Acts remove those obstacles for MSMEs.
Traditionally, banks only give loans to businesses that can provide fixed land and property as collateral. This shuts out MSMEs which usually own only movable assets like motor vehicles and equipment. The Collateral Registry Bill, 2017, will give confidence to lenders to utilise the Registry and thereby make credit available to MSMEs and individuals through the use of their movable assets as collateral.
The Credit Reporting Act now enables lenders to make reasonable judgement on whether or not to extend credit to an individual, and reduces the cases of bad loans.
On February 21st, 2017, the leadership of the National Assembly publicly committed to passing the two bills as part of the 60-Day National Action Plan for Ease of Doing Business initiated by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC). That promise was kept by the National Assembly last week with the Bills forwarded to the Acting President for assent.
With the passage of these Acts, the existing Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Guidelines regulating the operations of the National Collateral Registry and Credit Bureaux have now been replaced by formal legal frameworks.
The passage of these Acts would facilitate the achievement of the goals of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) set up by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2016 and chaired by the Vice-President to progressively make Nigeria an easier place for businesses to start and thrive.
Senate Finally Passes Buhari’s Anti-corruption Bill
The Nigerian Senate has passed an executive bill proposed to enlist international assistance in the country’s efforts to tackle criminal matters, including money laundering, asset acquisition from proceeds of corruption and other forms of illicit financial flows.
The proposed law, Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Between Nigeria and Other Foreign Countries, SB 224, 2017, was read for the third time and subsequently passed by the Senate on Tuesday.
The passage followed the presentation of the joint report on the bill by the Senate committees on foreign affairs, chaired by Monsurat Sunmonu (APC-Oyo); judiciary, human rights and legal matters, chaired by David Umaru (APC-Niger) and anti-corruption, chaired by Chukwuma Utazi, PDP-Enugu.
The bill – and another one on Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition – was sent to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 27, 2016, before it was finally passed by the lawmakers on Tuesday.
The bill seeks to get relevant international assistance in cases of money laundering and provide framework for “other countries to assist in provision of and obtaining of evidence, making of arrangements for persons to give evidence”.
“The bill also hopes to elicit international assistance in criminal investigations, recovery, forfeiture or confiscation of property in respect of offences.
“The restraining of dealings in property or the freezing of asset that may be recovered, forfeited or confiscated in respect of offences.
“The execution of request for search and seizure, the location and identification of witnesses and suspects,” Mr. Buhari wrote to the Senate in January 2016.
There is no report yet on the second one, Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Bill, sent same day as the one on mutual legal assistance.
With the approval of the bill by the Senate, a similar approval by the House of Representatives is required before a joint approval by the National Assembly following which the bill will be sent to the president for assent.
Cyber bullies are psycho patients undergoing rehab with an android phone - Yomi Fabiyi
Actor/Filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi, addressed cyber bullies in a lengthy post on Instagram. Fabiyi urged celebrities to ignore these 'psycho patients' who try to feel important while using cheap data to carry out their acts. Read what he wrote below...
We are in a precarious situation now that anybody see those living in glass houses (Artists, celebs, public officers) as "SOFT TARGETS" for cyber-bullying and social media blackmail with lied, unverified facts, lies and bigotory.
They believe hurting your brand online, or creating an impression about your personality with less than N100 value of data, thinking it is payback and expect you to loose sleep over it. Iro, ofo ojo keji oja (NO TIME). The best way any artist can survive this era of cyber-bullying through to cheap blackmail from people we know or we don't know until the Government fix this rot, everyone should try as much as possible not to respond to irrelevancies online especially those with malicious motives. People must talk or act evil at any slight opportunities. When you reply, you make such person look important than they think they are. Develop a thick skin and simply ignore.
Most bullying don't last, too many bitter and depressed people out their. Some are psycho patients who are undergoing rehab with an android phones, some will everly take undue advantage. If you have a good publicist/management or lawyer, they know how to handle the rest.
When we ruin the positives of social media in this side of the clan our eyes go open. Abuse, insults and trolling are not public opinion, you are weak if it gets to you. Real successful people dont pay attention. If people will not dig deep before conclusion, catch fun on your page simultaneously and ignore the evil exploit.

Comedienne Kathy Griffin released a photo of herself holding the decapitated head of a man that resembled US president, Donald Trump
The comedian posed for the gory shot during a photo session with famed photog Tyler Shields, TMZ reports. Is this OK, though? Is she not inciting violence against a sitting president? In this part of the world, she would probably be arrested.

South African man is raped for three days by three women who drugged and kidnapped him in a taxi
A 23yr old South African man was kidnapped and raped by three female assailants in a taxi. What started out as an ordinary commute took a traumatic turn when he hailed a communal taxi which had the women as passengers and got in. Suddenly, the car changed direction and he was ordered to sit in front. He was then injected within an unknown substance and passed out. South African Police Service Captain Colette Weilbach said: 'He stated that he woke up in an unfamiliar room on a single bed.
He said:
'The female suspects then allegedly forced the man to drink an energy drink before taking turns raping him numerous times a day.
'The South African Police Service take all sexual offences seriously regardless of gender. The victim managed to stop a passing car for help after he was dumped semi naked in a field. Rape and sexual violence against both men and women is prevalent in South Africa with an estimate of half a million cases annually. Rees Mann, of the South African Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse, said nearly 20 per cent of sexual violations reported were on men.
'[We assure] all victims of these types of crimes that we will carry out robust investigations to bring offenders to justice.'
He said:
'Male victims are much less likely than females to report sexual abuse because police don't take it seriously.'
Lebanon wants Wonder Woman film banned because lead actress is Israeli
Lebanon has called for ban of the new Wonder Woman movie because its lead actress, Gal Gadot, is an Israeli, AP reports.
A security official said a formal request for a ban has not yet been received. A ban would require a recommendation from a six-member committee from the Ministry of Economy, a process that has not yet began, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporter.
The premiere of Wonder Woman is scheduled for Wednesday in at least one cinema in Beirut. Posters of the movie and digital billboards have sprouted up around the Lebanese capital.
Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and has a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling or having contacts with Israelis. The two countries have been through a number of wars, including a particularly devastating one in 2006 that battered Lebanon's infrastructure and left hundreds dead.

A group called Campaign to Boycott Supporters of Israel-Lebanon has pressed an effort against the movie. On its Facebook page, the campaign said Gadot was a soldier in the Israeli army and has expressed support for Israel's military policies against the Gaza Strip, a coastal Palestinian territory run by the militant group Hamas.
"The state took the right decision," Samah Idriss, a member of the boycott campaign told The Associated Press. "We now await the implementation. ... Even if it is one hour before the show, they should ban it anyway"
Photos: 30-year-old South African woman found dead in her office nearly two weeks after she was reported missing
A 30-year-old woman missing for nearly two weeks has been found dead in her Eskom office at the Springs power station, South Africa on Monday, May 29th.
"On the day she was reported missing, police came and searched the offices. They even had police dogs there but could not pick up any smell" Eskom national spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe told News24.
"We know that the woman was found in her office‚ but I don’t know what was the cause of death‚” police spokesperson Kay Makhubele told TimesLIVE on Tuesday morning.
Eskom officials were quoted as saying that “something untoward” had happened on the day that Yende had gone missing‚ referring to the fact that CCTV cameras had stopped recording.Family spokesperson Mboneni Yende said relatives had tried to figure out what she had been up to at work‚ but were told the CCTV surveillance system was switched off that day.
“The sad part is that on Thursday we went there‚ there were three workers that were inside the station working. On that day‚ it had been 10 days since had been missing‚” Yende said.
“Are you telling me that if someone has been dead for 10 days then you can’t smell anything? That is highly impossible. The people who were there knew what they were doing?"Meanwhile, Search and Rescue lead investigator Lourens Smit said there is suspected foul play surrounding the death of the young woman.
"When she was reported missing‚ the whole office and its surroundings were checked by SAPS and the K9 unit. The family and community members also searched. Her body was definitely not at the office. On day 13 [13 days after she went missing] her body is found‚ locked in her office. That definitely suggests foul play." Smit said.Lourens also said that Eskom’s CCTV was working up until the day Thembisile Yende went missing.
“According to her cousin‚ who went to the Eskom office‚ the cameras were not working on the day that she went missing‚” Smit added.
“Why the cameras were not working‚ I don’t know‚ but there is definitely more to the disappearance.”Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe also said the company does not yet have details surrounding Yende’s death and that a post-mortem will shed some light on what happened to her.
“All we know is that she was reported missing for two weeks. She was found in a sub station. Circumstances surrounding her death will be uncovered by the police investigation‚”
Spokesperson Kay Makhubele said the police have opened an inquest docket.
“It is alleged that the woman was last seen when she went to her work place at Eskom in Springs.Late in the evening the family went to the police station to report her missing after seeing that she was not coming back home and not answering her phone‚” Makhubele said.
“Since then the police have been searching for the whereabouts of the woman. Yesterday [Monday]‚ the police were called at Eskom‚ where they pointed out one office which was not in use and had a funny smell. The police had to break the door because it was locked‚ only to discover the body of the missing woman.”He said the police do not yet know the cause of Yende’s death and are awaiting post-mortem results.
Makhubele said allegations that cameras were not working when the woman went missing‚ will be part of the police investigation.
“The police are appealing to anyone who might have information to come forward by contacting the nearest police station or alternatively call our Crime Line 08600 10111 or SMS 32211.”

'My wife is pregnant for my best friend'
Murphy came back from a one-year course in France only to find out that his newly wedded wife was pregnant for his best friend.
My name is Murphy, a 37-year-old man. I work with an oil servicing firm as a maintenance engineer with my job entailing I travel out of the country at short notices.
As part of my job, I have had to go on training courses that could last for months and it is one of such trips that is the source of my pains at the moment.
I got married two years ago to my long term girlfriend. Hilda was introduced to me by a friend, Marsh, shortly after Udy dumped me for a politician and I was very devastated.
Initially, I did not intend to go into a serious relationship after what Udy did to me. I was so much in love with Udy that when she jilted me, I vowed never to have anything serious with a woman until I was ready to settle down.
But Hilda proved to be a different woman who showed me she loved me genuinely and despite my resolve, I found myself falling in love with her. It began gradually and with time, I could not do without her.
She made me forget Udy in no time and all I could think of was to be with her for the rest of my life. When I took her to meet my parents, my mother fell in love with her on the spot and told me Hilda was the very woman who would give her grandchildren.
We got married soon after and looked forward to a happy family with our kids but little did I know that the devil would use my best friend, TJ, to scatter my home.
It was in March of 2016 that I received a summon from our headquarters in France that I should proceed on a training course due to a huge contract the company got in an African country where oil had just been discovered.
I was to spend a year on the course where we were to get training on how to maintain new equipment that would be shipped into the country.
I told my direct boss about my new marriage and asked if it would be possible for me to go with her but it was to no avail as he said I would have to bear her expenses and since I did not have the means, I decided to leave her behind.
I was not happy to leave my new wife all alone for one year but with my relations and close friends in Lagos, I felt she would be in safe hands.
While in France, I made sure I was in touch with Hilda as much as I could and my friends I spoke and chatted with also told me she was doing great.
I had told TJ who was the closest to me, to always go around my house to see that my wife was doing well. How could I have known that I was putting her in harm's way because it is the same TJ that got Hilda pregnant.
At the end of my course in April this year, I came back home with so much joy not knowing I was coming to meet disaster waiting for me.
The first sign was when I touched down at the airport and my wife was not around to receive me. It was only Marsh who was around as even TJ was absent.
When I asked why Hilda was not around, Marsh told me she was not feeling too well and they told her to stay at home. I did not buy that explanation but I kept quiet and could not wait to get home.
When we got home, I met the shock of my life as I saw my wife with a protruding stomach. I stood transfixed to the spot as I looked at her, trying to recall if she there was anytime she told me she was pregnant but I could not remember any.
Marsh was in an unusual hurry to leave and when he left, I asked my wife what was going on and she broke down and confessed that TJ seduced her and they had sex and the result was the pregnancy.
She has been begging me for forgiveness but I don't know what steps to take now. TJ himself has been in hiding while I have tried so much to hide the truth from my family and friends who think Hilda is pregnant for me.
I don't want to cause her any embarrassment or disgrace by exposing the secret. Marsh is the only other person who knows what is going on and has been begging me to handle the matter in a mature way till we find a solution.

She also denied threatening the petitioner with a knife.

After hearing from both parties, the President of the Court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, observed that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved it.
He awarded the custody of the male child who was 13-year-old to the petitioner, while the custody of the two female children was awarded to the respondent.

Ogunsemi also granted unrestricted access to both parties to visit the children in their custody
